Your Help is Needed.
Holy Family and Commonwealth Catholic Charities are resettling a family of five from Burma (Father, Mother & three daughters ages 9, 5 and 18 months). Resettlement includes initial housing, case management, school enrollment and follow up, health and language support and employment services. Please consider helping in one of these ways.
- Donate Financially: Holy Family has committed to a level three sponsorship. Holy Family's goal is to raise $5,000 to assist CCC with housing, education, utilities and basic needs.
- You may also donate using cash or check. Make check payable to "Holy Family with Burmese Refugee Family" in memo. Cash or checks can be turned into Brian Alexander or Lani Ulep at Church of the Holy Family church office. Your donation ensures that the most critical and urgent needs can be met quickly.
- Donate Household Items and Furnishings. Holy Family will furnish a three bedroom, 1.5 bathroom house. Refugees often arrive in the United States with very little. You can provide the new households items they need to turn a house into a home. See sign-up genius for items needed.

The refugees whom we assist are fully vetted by the Department of State in coordination with the U.S. security agencies and have undergone rigorous background checks. Refugees are legally admitted into the country through the Federal Refugee Resettlement Program. Refugees are screened in a process that can take between 12 and 24 months. Eight federal agencies are involved in the screening process, which includes multiple security database and biometric checks, medical screenings and three in-person interviews. Once refugees arrive in the U.S., the government partners with agencies like CCC to help them settle into their lives and put them on a path to sucess. CCC and Holy Family will provide intensive assistance that gradually tapers off over several years as the refugees become more independent and acclimated to their new lives.
