This was a spirit lifting project for parishioners to safely
sing out loud together during the Covid-19 pandemic!
A side benefit: raising about $400 to buy microphones for Music Ministry to sing together from their cars through the magic of FM radio transmission instead of muting on Zoom! THANK YOU!
On Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020, safely distanced cars were loaded with people & their movie snacks as we all enjoyed seeing one another. Waving from our cars along with a little celebratory horn honking went like this just before the Sing-along Sound of Music movie began on the ball field: "Honk if you can hear me! Okay, the sound's working." Mobile Movies set up a huge 26' screen along with amazing sound on the field and in the cars at FM 107.9 making the experience better than we expected. Lyrics on the screen let us sing out all the Sound of Music songs from our cars. Photos and little videos were taken - some are already on the parish Facebook page (click icon at top of this page), and later, we'll have a few on this page.
Many thanks to all who made this terrific evening happen - Fr. Rene for allowing this project to go forward, Jim McCaddin, Beth Jala, and Brian Alexander for careful advance planning, and the MANY who volunteered and did an awesome job of parking so many cars. The most orderly ball field exit EVER - like it was choreographed for a musical.
Let's not forget to thank the very necessary Restroom Relief Runners, either. We couldn't have completed the night without you!
Thank you to ALL for coming to the Sound of Music Sing-Along & for following protocols to make this a safe and happy night
re-SOUNDING with the SOUND of MUSIC from you.
Gratefully, Sylvia Chapa, the music lady - keep singing!
