Why write a letter to an inmate? Because Jesus asked us to, in Matthew 25:36. "I was naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you visited me: I was in prison and you came to me. This is an oppurtunity to volunteer your time and talents to spread compassion and to show the prison administration and inmates that someone cares. Here is an oppurtunity to volunteer-without being asked ot donate money or goods, commit to a time slot or leave the privacy of your own home! This is a perfect COVID-19 volunteer opportunity..
I've never written a letter to an inmate. Who will help me? It's easy! All you need is love in your heart, and a willingness to put a few kind words of encouragement onto paper. Lynn Kline will help you with guidance and tips. Lynn is a member of the Holy Family Prison Ministry and has spent years writing to inmates.
