PARISH CHOIR loves to sing in harmony! If you enjoy singing Soprano, Alto, Tenor, or Bass parts, this is the place for you. You do not have to read music, although we are happy if you can! This Choir strives to support and encourage the active participation of the assembly by raising our hearts and voices to God, celebrating our faith through sung prayer with the assembly. We also enjoy one another’s company in a summer picnic, occasional wine & cheese evenings, and “field trips” to concerts and workshops to enjoy one another’s company and to improve our skills. Rehearsals are at 7 pm Wednesdays starting in September 2023. New Member Social is 7 pm on
Sep 13 - always a fun start to a rehearsal!
Be sure to click on "Summer Schola" in the left sidebar if you'd like to sing in the summer - No week night rehearsals - we practice right before mass! Signups now will be contacted in May of 2024.

TEEN SINGERS (Middle & High School) sing at mass once a month and for our Festival of Carols with all of our Music Ministry. Teen Singers join with Holy Family Ringers and the Children's Choir at the 4 pm Christmas Eve Mass - that's really festive!
Rehearsals are most Sundays at 5:30 p.m. If you attend Middle or High School classes, this is an easy fit and beautiful start to the evening. When we sing at a Sunday mass, we practice 45 minutes before the mass begins.
If you sing in a school choir, you’ll enjoy singing a variety of music for liturgy. If you cannot get choir into your school schedule this year, join Teen Singers instead! Keep the music going in your life an inspire everyone in church to sing with you.
Schools may give service hours for your participation in rehearsals and mass, but the real reward is in the difference your voices and music make in our parish worship.

HOLY FAMILY RINGERS happily ring our 3-octave set of Schulmerich handbells, and rehearsals are filled with laughter and the beautiful sound of bells. In Summer 2023 we attended a Virginia Handbell Consort Ring & Refresh handbell workshop together to refresh, restore, and renew us! . Regular rehearsals begin in September 2023 for this intergenerational bell choir with ringers as young as 6th grade. If you rang choir chimes or played an instrument in school, you can easily learn to ring bells! If you don't read music at all, you'll get some coaching to learn.
Playing bells is like a musical puzzle to count and play your note at exactly the right time, and it’s very satisfying when you do! It's also a fun family activity for parents or grandparents with older children.
Starting in September, attend rehearsals Thursdays at 5:30 pm and ring at mass on All Saints Day and other weekends as well as at our Festival of Carols and Christmas Eve 4 pm Mass. Contact Sylvia Chapa for more information or click the button below to sign up through Flocknote:
INSTRUMENTALISTS enhance the worship experience by adding other colors, sounds, and musical lines to assembly singing by playing flute, oboe, clarinet, harp, violin, viola, cello, clarinet, trumpet, guitar, or percussion in ensembles or as soloists. Music for these instruments is available to practice at home. You will need to play about a Grade 3 music level.

Children’s Choir (grades 3-5) provides young parishioners a fun atmosphere where they learn to sing and share their faith through music. Mrs. Anne will be leading this fall, and with her experience as a VB Schools music teacher, it will be a fun environment as the children learn to sing well. They will sing at mass about every 5-6 weeks, in our December Festival of Carols that includes all of our Music Ministry, and on Christmas Eve at the 4 pm Mass with the Teen Singers and Holy Family Ringers (Handbells).
Join in the fun in fall 2023!

CANTORS are the leaders of sung prayer at our liturgies. Cantors must have a strong singing voice, preferably read music, and be confident singing in front of the assembly. Cantors assume the responsibility to learn music thoroughly, prepare the psalm spiritually and musically, and provide prayerful leadership to the assembly to encourage their full, conscious, and active participation in the liturgy. Cantors participate in seasonal training sessions for ongoing formation and continuing education in the art of liturgy. Cantors are encouraged to sing in one choir to include Parish Choir, Summer Schola, Teen Singers, Holy Week or Christmas Choirs in order to learn parish repertoire. Most of our Cantors have completed the National Pastoral Musicians Basic Cantor Certification. Training.
